Deptford Parks Art Trail

Sustrans, Transport for London & Lewisham Council

The Deptford Park Art Trail is part of the a larger Deptford Parks Liveable Neighbourhood project, a number of public realm enhancements which aim to improve user perception of the space, increase accessibility and connect local people to the area. The nineteen artworks which are now up and decorating Evelyn ward are along a route which crosses from New Cross and into Deptford. The artworks are all based on these areas, developed through a mixture of co-design with residents and research into the neighbourhood.

The route follows the Q1 cycleway and starts at the junction of Sanford Street and Woodpecker Road. It is completely pedestrianised and crosses only one road. All the pieces are installed on signposts and are outdoors. This maps marks their locations.

This series of artworks connects the Evelyn and New Cross wards of Lewisham via a green walking and bicycle friendly route. Each piece is based on a memory, fact or story about the neighbourhood, collected through a series of meetings, workshops and research at the Local History and Archives Centre.
