The Birds of Waterlink Way

Transport for London & Lewisham Council

The concept for this collection of public artworks was to mix the built environment and the natural world in the same way as older A Roost for Every Bird drawings - highlighting some of the birds native to the Ravensbourne river and depicting them nesting in the city.

The designs were first painted in pen & ink before being vectorized and expanded so that their silhouettes could be water-jet cut in composite metal. The linework was then screenprinted back on top of these cut metal silhouettes, and final colour details painted in.
