Creating a series of screen printed, painted and layered plywood artworks for permanent display in the Sea Things gallery, based on the museum archive of 1500 public associations with the sea.

During 2017 the National Maritime Museum travelled all over the United Kingdom and collected anecdotes, memories and associations with the sea. This formed the basis for six pieces, now installed in their new Sea Things gallery.

Each piece covers a broad theme that had emerged from the archive, For example Moving by Sea draws together accounts of both migration but also memories of swimming, whereas Where Land and Sea Meet depicts classic and rose tinted memories of seaside visits.

Each piece was first drawn as a flat image in pen & ink, and then separated into different layers. These were then laser cut from plywood, painted and scans of the original line work screen printed back on top before being assembled.

The finished pieces are now on permanent display at the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich.
